United Nordic’s private label, aware™, is 100 % fair trade!
Ethical responsibility and sustainability
United Nordic is now introducing our new line of fair traded products, labelled ‘aware™’. aware™ is a reinforcement of United Nordic’s ethical profile and complies with the increasing demand among consumers for fair traded products. The aware™ label guarantees the consumer, that the production has taken place according to the principles of fair trade. This means that the product is produced in an environment that is safe and healthy, and that the workers and farmers are guaranteed a fair price for their products. Thus by buying aware™ articles you automatically support some of the most poor people in world and contribute to the process of sustainability, to social, economical and environmental development.
Fair trade is making progress
Fair trade is becoming more and more integrated in the Nordic consumers buying habits. Products with a high ethical profile attract consumers more than ever. Statistics from The Max Havelaar Foundation show for instance an increased global growth of 47 % in fair trade from 2007 till 2008. United Nordic’s target is to double the amount of aware™ articles during 2009.
A fair and reasonable price
The United Nordic partnership allows us to buy larger amounts of products with our suppliers, which in the end means a lower price for the consumer. Our aware™ products are, naturally, also included in this procedure, which means that the price on these products is both fair and reasonable at the same time.
From all the corners of the world
The assortment of aware™ labelled products consists of 12 tasty, high quality products including orange juice from Cuba and Brazil, peppercorn from Sri Lanka, coffee from Honduras, Costa Rica and Peru, tea from India and ecological cocoa and chocolate from Peru and The Dominican Republic. |
