United Nordic coordinates joint purchasing of private label products and imported goods for our owners and we strive to harmonize our brands and specifications wherever possible. This setup enables our suppliers to achieve economies of scale by bundling volumes, using common recipes and to manage more efficient production series. In addition, United Nordic and its owners always strive to share local product development concepts within the group, as well as and share best in class suppliers.

United Nordic owners are also members of EMD in Switzerland, one of Europe’s largest buying alliances. The sourcing of Private Label products are divided between the 2 organizations, based on the nature of the products. The active joint purchasing of private label products of United Nordic owners are in total EUR 450 million in 2020 with a split of Euro 365 million through United Nordic tenders and Euro 85 million through EMD. Still there are products with a value of Euro 1,2 billion that are bought locally.

United Nordic is today strong in categories like fish & seafood (fresh and frozen), groceries, canned goods (vegetables, fish and fruits) and non- & near food. For the last couple of years, we have also seen a great growth in products groups like chilled products (dairy, cheese and processed meat), beverages and frozen food.
